I'm thinking about organzing a dance weekend here. There are lots of events around here already, but it feels to me like there's a bit of a gap for something that is:
On good public transit: you don't need a car, dancers in the city can get to the dance easily.
Financially accessible: sliding scale admission, generally low-cost format. Non-residential so people can save money by staying with friends if they want.
Larks/Ravens: there's still much more demand for gender-free calling than there are gender-free dances.
I'm thinking about something Friday-Sunday at the Cambridge Masonic Hall, some time during cold season when we can get good window ventilation. The weekend of 2019-03-09 looks to be about as far from the timing of other events as possible, and is a time when the hall is available.
I'm not sure yet what 'brand' this would be under: maybe BIDA if other organizers are interested, maybe the Free Raisins, maybe it's own thing. I'd like to bring Amy and Audrey out to play; as you might guess I'm more motivated to make this happen if we're playing.
Early stages of thinking about it, looking for feedback.
